The Supreme Court on Friday put telecom service providers on hold as it refused to stay a Delhi High Court order compensating users for call drop. The bench will take a call next week after hearing TRAI on the issue.
The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) had collectively approached the apex court for stay of the Delhi HC verdict of February 29 upholding TRAI’s decision making it mandatory for telecom companies to compensate subscribers for call drops from January 1, 2016.
While refusing interim stay, the bench of Justices Kurian Joseph and RF Nariman issued notice to TRAI and decided to examine the issue on Thursday.
