Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi asked Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to lead cause to protect the child rights in the country in association with his trust. He termed Telugu Talli (Mother Telugu — symbol of Telugu people) as “safe to make India safe”.
Praising Naidu, Satyarthi said, “When I announced Bharat Yatra in Delhi, it was Naidu who became first to support the campaign with his tweet and many others followed. Also, No Chief Minister marched on the streets for the cause of child rights in the history, not just in India, but in the entire world.”
“All people of Andhra Pradesh must be proud of your Chief Minister,” he added.
With a theme, ‘Safe childhood, Safe India’, Bharath Yatra entered Andhra Pradesh on Monday and continued for second day in Kurnool city on Tuesday. Students participated in large numbers in the march led by the Chief Minister and Satyarthi.
“I have two appeals to make, first being I, not as a Nobel laureate, but as a person who is working for the cause of child safety for last 40 years appeal to you that I will work with the State Government to make AP the first child abuse-free State in the country. I can tell you this not just on behalf of my Kailash Satyarthi foundation but also on behalf of thousand other organisations working for the cause,” he said.
“Secondly, there is a need for a comprehensive and holistic policy for education, healthcare and safety of children. Together with my organisation, you must lead in this respect,” he told Naidu.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister praised Satyarthi for his determination as he dedicated 40 years for the cause of safety of children. “We still need people like Satyarthi among us given there are lot of atrocities happening in the society” he said. The Chief Minister assured that Andhra Pradesh will make laws to lead in child safety in the country.
