Finally, rebel Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh spoke out against Mamata Banerjee alleging chit fund kingpin Sudipto Sen had links with the Bengal Chief Minister whom he had promised to provide maximum media coverage so as to fulfil her political aspirations including that of being the Prime Minister.

Ghosh whose name has repeatedly figured in the multi-thousand crore Saradha chit fund scam also apprehended arrest as “the top Trinamool leadership is manipulating” the ponzi fund probe in order to make scapegoats. Once a blue-eyed boy of the Chief Minister, the journalist-turned MP on Friday alleged the police were threatening him with arrest “if I fail to divulge the names” of those who benefited from their associations with Sudipto Sen.

“They are asking me about the whereabouts of the chit-fund money. They threatened me on Thursday that if I do not divulge the names of those who were in possession of this money they will arrest me,” the MP who was suspended a couple of months ago said alleging “the way the police are investigating the case the money will never be recovered and given to the depositors.”

Ghosh, the former CMD of Sen’s media empire was earlier interrogated on several occasions by the police after the scam story exploded in the Trinamool Government’s face. This prompted him to complain that the he was being made a scapegoat as the police were sparing the big fishes in the scam. On Friday he told the police about the Rs 200-crore he knew about. “I told them about Rs 200 crore that Sudipto Sen had invested in the media business.”

“But they threatened me with arrest if I do not give the details of who else had the rest of the money. But I know nothing about that,” he said literally breaking down in front of the media and recollecting how Sen had “met the Chief Minister and promised her full support through her media network so that she can realise her prime ministerial ambitions.”

He added “I wish the Chief Minister all the success” adding the police were under the influence of the top Trinamool leaders. “let them arrest me which I think they will tomorrow with the instructions from their political bosses.” Earlier the MP had said that he had kept a taped message for the media with a friend in Delhi so that one could release “if I am arrested.”
