Sahara chief Subrata Roy sought permission from the Supreme Court on Thursday to be shifted from the jail barrack to Tihar guest house situated within the jail compound in order to facilitate negotiations on sale of Sahara property with foreign and Indian buyers.

In a fresh application moved in Supreme Court, Roy along with two senior Sahara officials — Ashok Roy Chaudhary and Ravi Shankar Dubey — who are presently lodged in Tihar Jail no.3 demanded to be shifted to the guesthouse of the jail that was best suited for negotiations on  sale of company properties. The application was mentioned by Sahara’s lawyers before a bench headed by Justice TS Thakur which directed the Registry of the Supreme Court to list the matter before a special bench hearing the case. The application suggests that the company was unable to make any headway in sale of properties as there is a general attitude among buyers and industrial houses to do business with Sahara. “People are not ready to part even 10 bucks,” Sahara’s application said, which making a high pitch demand for securing the presence of Roy and his two Directors in all negotiations.Saharas even objected to the time restriction of six hours which the Court had agreed to provide Roy as and when a proposal for negotiation was brought forth. Seeking a permanent shifting to Tihar Guesthouse, the application said, “Here in those guest rooms prospective buyers can be called directly because this place in Tihar is without typical jail environment and restrictions.”
