Heaps of garbage was seen on the streets even as the strike called in by MCD workers of all departments entered day six on Monday. The protesting employees, who are demanding due payment of salaries, dumped garbage in front of Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu's residence and scattered garbage on the roads. Among other things, blame game continues between the Delhi Government and municipal corporations over the current situation of civic amenities.
"Employees are in long standing trouble and have not been given salaries since long. There are poor people who are the sole breadwinner of the family. An employee's salary is his/her right, and they are rightfully placing their demands," said Jai Kishan, Parton of Joint Front of MCD Union and ex-MlA. As per the report, strike of the unions has resulted atleast 40,000 metric tonnes unattended garbage in various nooks. The worse is that the agitating employees, who have been demanding immediate release of salaries, arrears and other allowances pending for the last three months, littered garbage on roads resulting in chaos everywhere.
