Directors of controversial film ‘Sadda Haq’ will have to arrange a special screening of their movie in the Supreme Court for a select group of lawyers who will now decide if the film depicting militancy in Punjab is fit for public screening in Punjab, Delhi and Chandigarh where it has been banned. Ironically, the film has been cleared by the Censor Board.

A Bench of Chief Justice Altamas Kabir and Justices AR Dave and Vikramajit Sen said the film will be screened on Friday in the apex court precincts where they will be joined by senior advocates Fali S Nariman, Rajeev Dhavan, Additional Solicitor General Indira Jaising and Rebecca John. The lawyers will assist the court as amicus curiae while advocates for States would be at liberty to attend the special

screening. On April 11, the court had sought responses of Delhi, Punjab and Chandigarh administration, who cited law and order problem to justify the ban.            PNS
