A youth from Assam has filed an application under the Right To Information (ATI) Act seeking the details of the peace deal signed between the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government in New Delhi and the Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) faction led by its chairman Isac Chisi Swu and general secretary T Muivah.
The NDA Government had signed an agreement with the NSCN (IM) faction on last Monday in New Delhi. While Central Government’s interlocutor for Naga talks RN Ravi signed the agreement on behalf of the Government, it was signed by NSCN (IM) general secretary T Muivah in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and other dignitaries.
However, the details of the deal are yet to be made public. Both the Government as well as the NSCN (IM) leadership has made it a closely guarded affair.
The youth, who is also a member of the Congress in Assam on Thursday sent a letter to the Union Home Secretary seeking the detailed content of the set of agreements agreed upon and signed between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) faction on Monday last under the provision of the Right to Information Act, 2005.
“Why the signed agreement has not been made public so farIJ Reasons, if any, should be dispensed with in accordance with the provision of RTI Act, 2005,” said the letter sent by Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) secretary Bibhuti Bhushan Borthakur.
