While G Sukumaran Nair, a caste leader, portrayed  MP Sashi Tharoor  as the Prime Ministerial candidate of the Indian National Congress because of him being a Tharavadi Nair lineage, leader of another caste which is numerically stronger than the Nairs lambasted the move as premature, against ground realities and facts.

Vellappilli Natesan, general secretary, SNDP, a caste outfit representing the Eezhava community, described Tharoor as anti-backward as well as anti-Harijan.  “Isn’t he the same Sashi Tharoor who fought against Mallikarjun Kharge, a widely respected Harijan leader in the Congress presidential election?  If Tharoor had an iota of concern for the Harijans, would he have opposed the candidature of Kharge asked Natesan.
