Twenty three hours after a suburban train rammed into a hydraulic buffer at platform number three of the Churchgate railway terminus, the Western Railway restored traffic from the affected platform on Monday morning, even as Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu announced that action would be taken against those responsible for Sunday’s mishap.

The platform number three at the Churchgate railway terminus had become in-operational at 11.20 am, after a suburban local had crashed against a hydraulic buffer installed at the dead end of the station, a mishap that had resulted in the first compartment of the affected train being tilted upwards in the air owing to the impact of the collision. The mishap had occurred after the motorman failed to apply breaks in time, when the train arrived at the Churchgate railway terminus. In all, five people were injured in the freak mishap.
