PNS

RJD MlA Saroj Yadav is upset with the administration and police following the death of his sister, who died on Tuesday after being molested and hit on the head by a few assailants.

The first-time MlA from Barhara in Bhojpur district suspected political rivalry to be the reason behind the incident that happened on April 9 when his sister Shaili Devi was molested in an autorickshaw at Chandi in Bhojpur district and the four assailants, including the auto driver hit her with iron rods and threw the bleeding woman on the road.

After remaining in coma in Patna Medical College Hospital (PNCH) she succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday.

Blaming the police, the MlA said the police force was least bothered about maintaining law and order. “If such an incident can happen with a relative of a legislator, one can imagine the plight of the common people. This incident is a reflection of the law and order situation in Bihar,” a bereaved Yadav said adding, “My sister was murdered for political reasons and the case should be probed by higher officials.”

Two of the accused Santosh Singh and Mithilesh Singh surrendered in the court on Wednesday and search is on for the two other. Ironically, the police had picked up these two accused along with the autorickshaw soon after the incident but later they were let off. Shaili Devi on April 9 went to Chandi Bazar to purchase some medicines and was returning by an auto rickshaw to Ara. However, another three persons also boarded the auto and the driver instead of Ara took turn towards Bahiara to which she objected. It is learnt that all the four men misbehaved with her and hit her with iron rod after which she fell unconscious and was dumped near Bahiara. later on she was rushed to Ara Sadar hospital by some people from where she was referred to PMCH in critical condition.

Yadav accused local police of going soft on the named accused persons. Barhara, the constituency Yadav represents is Rajput dominated and he is possibly the first non Rajput MlA from that constituency. Earlier this seat was represented by Raghvendra Pratap Singh of RJD. But in October election, the RJD had denied ticket to Singh and fielded Saroj Yadav.

The BJP slammed Nitish Kumar Government for not being able to protect the citizens of the State.
