Rise in violence by jehadis in WB threat to national security: RSS

The Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidi Sabha (National Executive) of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh which concluded the three-day long brainstorming session at Coimbatore on Tuesday cautioned the Union Government that the “unabated rise in violence by the jehadi elements based in West Bengal” was posing a serious challenge to the national security, and law and order.

The focus of the resolution adopted at the end of the meeting and which was released to the media on Tuesday was only about the ever growing Jehadi attacks in West Bengal and the indifference of the State Government to these attacks.

Even as the RSS meet was on in Coimbatore, with all prominent figures of the Sangh in attendance, suspected jehadi elements murdered H Farooq, a 31-year-old Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhakam last Thursday. Tamil Nadu police have arrested two persons for the murder while four others surrendered separately in different courts in the district claiming they were the perpetrators of the murder.

The resolution  adopted in the RSS meet is a charge sheet against the West Bengal Government headed by Mamata Banerjee. The resolution charged that the Mamata Banerjee Government was encouraging the anti-national elements due to its Muslim vote bank politics and the declining Hindu population in the State.

“Hindu population of the State which constituted 78.45  per cent in 1951 has declined to 70.54 per cent as per census of 2011. This is a matter of serious concern to the unity and integrity of the country,” said the resolution. But a finding by Chennai-based independent think tank, Centre for Policy Studies, has proved by field research that  the Muslim population in the State is 27 per cent, a highly crucial factor in West Bengal politics.

“The attack and looting of the Kaliyachak Police Station (District Malda) which is just 8 km inside the Bangladesh border, burning down of the crime record by the anti-national Jehadi elements and growing incidents of attack on security forces in the State are posing serious challenges to national security and law and order. Fatwas inciting violence are openly being issued by fundamentalist Maulavis,” the resolution said.

The resolution which gives a detailed description of the kind of attacks unleashed by the jehadi elements with the connivance of the Mamata Banerjee Government pointed out that the Hindus in the State were being denied the freedom to observe their religious festivals like Durga Pooja.
