Results on expected lines: Nitish Kumar

The results of the five State Assemblies election brought broad smiles on the faces of the BJP leaders here but disappointed the leaders of Bihra’s Mahagathbandhan. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said the results were on expected lines and there was no surprising element. “The outcome was very much visible during election everywhere,” he said and congratulated Mamata Banerjee and J Jayalalitha. He however, refused to reveal if he would attend the swearing in ceremony of Mamata who attended searing in of Nitish twice within a year in 2015.

Senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said the country was moving fast towards a “Sangh yukt” and “Congress mukt” Bharat. “Nitish has boarded the ship of Congress which has countless number of holes and it will soon sink,” he said and added that after BJP’s victory in Assam, the party would win all the six other North Eastern States.

Modi said Nitish fielded four candidates in Assam in alliance with AIUDF, two in West Bengal, six in Tamil Nadu, seven in Kerala and two in Puducherry but lost everywhere.

Nitish lamented that Congress did not go for alliance in Assam whereas BJP tactfully entered into alliance with regional parties which helped it. IN Bengal, he said people gave a massive mandate to Mamata for her works. In Kerala, he added, he personally felt that UDF had an upper hand.

“The BJP need not go gaga over the victory in Assam alone. There is no justification for talks of Congress-mukt Bharat since the party has won Puducherry. The BJP is making talking only about Assam forgetting four other States. Even in Assam they won largely because of the allies,” the CM said.

Former Deputy CM Modi said the BJP has improved its position in other States too and exhibited that it has strong presence from Kamrup to Kanyakumari.
