While the hate speech of Trinamool MP and Bangla cine hero Tapas Paul has caused great concern among the right thinking citizens, his ardent followers in Nadia and North 24 Parganas have started following what their boss have been preaching.
A housewife was allegedly raped by reported Trinamool activists inside a moving vehicle while she was travelling to Bongaon from Bagda in North 24 Parganas, her relatives at Bagda complained alleging further that “when we went to lodge a complaint with the police, the vice chairman of local Sindrani Gram Panchayat prevented us from doing so” before assuring the victim’s family that things would be settled in a kangaroo court. Not only this “they even told us that we could get killed if we went to the police.”
The incident took place within a fortnight of Paul asking his followers in public to “rape” and “murder” the CPI(M) supporters. The Chief Minister who earlier said that she was “deeply shocked” with Paul’s speech soon got her party to “pardon” the the erring MP and “close the chapter” after he apologised to the Trinamool leadership for his hate speech.
The incident took place even as a third video tape of Paul was released by local Bangla channels showing the MP asking his followers punish the Marxists by simply slicing “their heads into to two with your axe.” The third speech was made at Teghari on the same day as the previous two speeches.
Within hours of his making those speeches “the house of our local leader Rafiqul was destroyed and another panchayat member was shot dead at Tehatta”, said Opposition leader Suryakanto Mishra. Governor NN Vohra, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Union Minister of State for Power Piyush Goyal accompanied the Prime Minister to Uri.
