Rane faces Sainiks' wrath after defeat

PNS

After their party’s victory in the Bandra (East) Assembly bypolls, the Shiv Sainiks turned the heat on defeated senior Congress leader Narayan Rane. They as they not only celebrated the Sena’s victory outside Rane’s Juhu residence, but also heckled him by raising vociferous slogans against him.

The Sainiks, who had begun to gather in front of Rane’s residence after it became certain their party candidate Trupti Sawant would score a handsome victory against the Sena leader, raised slogans like “Shiv Sena Angar hain, baki Sab bangar hain” ( Sena is like a fire, everything else is waste”and “Ek ladu, Don ladu... Kombdi choral Ami Gadu” (One ladu, two ladus.... we will bury the chicken thief”.

Many of the Sena revellers had carried live chickens with them so to heckle Rane, who had begun to earn his living as the owner of a chicken shop at Chembur in north-east Mumbai in early seventies.

Giving vent to the anger against Rane, Sena MP Vinayak Raut said:  “We have shown Narayan Rane his rightful place. He deserted our party, betrayed Balasaheb and now our Shivsainiks have defeated him twice in less than one year. It is high time he retired from politics and went back to his business of selling chickens”.
