Mohit Kandhari

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday rushed party general secretary Ram Madhav to do fire fighting on ground zero in Jammu to prevent any flare up between the alliance partners over the issue of ban on sale of beef.

Senior BJP Ministers and party MlAs, MlCs and other leaders attended the day-long meeting with the Central party leader and discussed the current political situation in the State.

BJP leaders also discussed the manner in which the State Government terminated the services of two senior Attorneys for their failure to defend the interests of the State in the court of law.

According to senior BJP leaders, “Ram Madhav was apprised about the status of implementation of ban on sale of beef in the State during the meeting”.

“We explained to him (Ram Madhav) that BJP MlAs were facing tough time as the State Government headed by Mufti Mohd Sayeed has failed to strictly implement the ban on sale of beef and prevent incidents of cow slaughtering”.

According to BJP MlAs who attended the meeting Ram Madhav was himself clueless and avoided giving any suggestions on how to deal with the situation at hand.

After giving us a patient hearing Madhav tried to pacify us against issuing any provocative statements and flaring the issue, a BJP MlA said after attending the meeting.

State Health Minister lal Singh and MoS Finance Pawan Gupta told reporters, “BJP is firm on its stand over implementation of the High Court order on ban of sale of beef.”

“BJP will not remain silent on this issue. With all our might we will ask the State Government to strictly implement the High Court order on ban on sale of beef in the State”, Pawan Gupta, BJP Minister told reporters here at State Guest house.

Meanwhile, emerging out of the meeting Madhav briefly commented on the developments claiming there is no threat to the alliance Government in the State. “The State Government is capable of handling the issue of ban on sale of beef,” he added.

In the run-up to the festival of Eid-ul-Zuha the State Government also remained on tenterhooks to tackle any law and order situation.
