BJP president Rajnath Singh kicked off party’s campaign in Telangana by seeking the support of the people to realise the dream of a “Golden Telangana”. Addressing a “Telangana Avirbhava Abhinandana Sabha” at Nizam College Grounds in Hyderabad, Rajnath Singh dedicated the Telangana State to 1100 youth who laid down their lives for the sake of separate State.
Giving the full credit to the BJP for the formation of Telangana State, Rajnath Singh said that if the Congress had its way, it would have never formed the Telangana State. “We kept our word and gave you Telangana State,” he said. “Now it is for you to give us your word to support the BJP in the coming elections both in the State Assembly and lok Sabha,” he said.
"leader of Opposition in the lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley played a major role in passing the Telangana Bill in the Parliament", he said. On the other hand Congress party tried to use Telangana for vote bank politics and to make the people of Telangana and Seemandhra fight with each other for political benefit. He also alleged that the Congress tried to avoid giving financial package to Seemandhra but BJP forced its hands.
Trying to strike a balance between the two States of Telangana and Seemandhra Rajnath Singh congratulated the people of both the States. "Even after two brothers separate, they remain the part of the same family", he said. Promising to develop Telangana and Seemandhra on the lines of Gujrat, Rajnath Singh urged the people to support the BJP, "the only party in India capable of providing Good Governance".
Pointing out the problems of Telangana and Seemandhra like the lack of drinking water and electricity shortage, he said that the BJP ruled States like Gujrat, MP, Chhattisgarh and Goa did not have the problems. Describing BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendar Modi as a diamond, "whose glitter had spread across the country", Rajnath Singh challenged Congress to announce the name of its candidate for the Prime Minister's post.
He also urged the non-Congress political parties of Andhra Pradesh to join hands with the BJP to provide a strong and effective Government in the country. "Congress led UPA Government has already admitted its defeat and has gone in to depression", he said. Referring to Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's allegation that RSS had killed Mahatma Gandhi, Rajnath Singh said that the Congress leadership had lost its mental balance. He urged Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to read and understand history.
Pointing out that Kapoor Commission had given clean chit to RSS in Mahatma Gandhi assassination case. Rajnath Singh challenged Congress to release the report of Thakkar Commission on the assassination of Indira Gandhi. "let the people know who were behind the conspiracy of Indira Gandhi's assassination", Rajnath Singh said. The public meeting was addressed by Arun Jaitely, Prakash Javdekar, State Congress President G Ksihan Reddy and others.
