Rajnath sees rapprochement with JD(U) post-lS elections

Hinting at a realignment of anti-Congress parties, BJP president Rajnath Singh said the Janata Dal (United) could re-join the NDA after the lok Sabha elections.

Indications to this possible political re-alignment that could re-define political equations of the country post-lok Sabha elections has set the ball rolling about rapprochement between two allies — BJP and JD(U) — who parted ways recently. “Though the BJP has benefited after the JD(U) walked out of the NDA. But I have a gut feeling that the JD(U) will rejoin the NDA after lok Sabha elections,’’ he said without elaborating as what had made him to think so.

Calling upon the political outfits who follow the ideology of Jayprakash Narain and Ram Manohar lohia to follow anti-congress agenda and come on a common platform, Singh said even Mahatma Gandhi had suggested to dissolve the Congress after the Independence.

Without taking names of the Samajwadi Party or JD(U), he said JP and lohia were against the Congress. “It is unfortunate that political parties who swear to follow JP and lohia’s ideology are in nexus with the Congress,” he said in an informal chat with reporters here on Wednesday.

Criticising the Congress-ruled States for creating disparity on the name of religion, the former CM of Uttar Pradesh said that BJP States have never used religion to create a divide.

Answering a query about reported dispute within the party on announcement of Narendra Modi as the head of the party’s lok Sabha campaign committee, he said Narendra Modi is the most popular leader of the party and there is no controversy.

He also said party has not decided as yet whether Modi will contest the lok Sabha election. “Modiji is a popular leader. He can contest the lok Sabha elections from anywhere he wants,’’ the BJP president said.
