Responding to All India Congress Committee (AICC) vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s comment on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that neither Rahul nor other Opposition parties have any idea of Indian culture and functioning of the RSS. Gandhi had made a comment that the NDA Government was not only making changes in the education system under the influence of the RSS but the organisation was actually running it. Addressing a rally at Rajkot in Gujarat, Singh said that the RSS was an independent body with an ideology of ‘Vasudhev Kutumbakam’ – the whole world is a family.

The Congress-led UPA Government used to infuse fear among the minority community but the Modi Government believes in moving ahead with everyone without any discrimination, he said, adding that even in many Islamic countries, different factions of Islam are not living together, but Indian culture is such that all these factions co-exists peacefully. Blaming Congress for instilling fear of RSS among the minorities Singh said that such activities intended to get votes, had to be curbed. “A political party needs to build trust and avoid spreading fear among a section of society in order to get votes,” he added.
