An unprecedented development that may seem hard to digest for many of his Tripura and Kerala comrades whose warheads are forever aimed at Janpath, former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Wednesday “made history” by joining Rahul Gandhi on same dais even as the two leaders launched scathing attack on BJP and Trinamool Congress, whom they they called “mock enemies”.
Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for delivering nothing against the tall promises they made before coming to power Gandhi wondered whether a single person from the crowd had got a job promised by Modi in 2014.
“Modiji had promised 2 crore jobs two years ago and Mamataji had promised 60 lakh employments five years ago. But has single person among you got a job,” he asked saying before coming to power “the BJP had promised that it will bring black money back and every Indian will get Rs15 lakh in one’s account. But today when we raise that question they say it was an electoral jumla (jargon).”
Addressing a huge election rally at Park Circus Maidan in South Kolkata, both Gandhi and Bhattacharya confirmed quoting their reliable sources that “the Alliance has already come to power which will be formally announced on May 19.”
Attacking the Prime Minister for ignoring the drought-hit States Gandhi said “while farmers are dying and States are reeling under drought Modiji is touring foreign countries.”
Attacking the Chief Minister for “making hollow promises like her natural ally in Delhi does,” Gandhi said when poor people were looted by the chit fund companies like Sharada and her own party leaders openly took bribe in front of the camera (Narada video) she said I will take action but did nothing. Today we want to tell her that she will not have to take action. Now we will take action when our Government comes to power after the elections.”
Today when the women are raped “Didi calls it sajano ghatna (stage-managed stories) but the real sajano ghatna is her mock fight with Modiji.”
Attacking Banerjee on the Kolkata fly-over (collapse) issue Gandhi said “the flyover fell on account of rampant corruption in procuring substandard steel and cement by the contractors who were by default Trinamool MlA’s men,” adding “not a single Trinamool leader was injured in the accident. Only the common men died.”
Attacking Mamata Banerjee for unleashing a reign of terror and corruption in West Bengal Bhattacharya said “today there has been an unprecedented fall in economy rate. There is no industry, no education, no employment. But above all there has been a record rise in violence, and attacks on women.”
He added, “it is this unprecedented situation that has forced the people of Bengal to come together and the parties like the Congress and the left to join cause. Given the current political situation in West Bengal and given the continuous attack on the opposition parties no party can single-handedly defeat the Trinamool Congress. So we have come together.”
