Property dispute claimed two lives in Barah Market area of Kareli on Wednesday. The killer was Arif, younger son of Mohammad Kadir who attacked his father, mother and sister with a chopper. While the mother and sister died instantly seriously injured father was rushed to a hospital. Two unidentified persons were with Arif who even attacked police with stones and acid bottle, besides setting the house on fire.
According to the elder son of Mohammad Kadir, his younger brother wanted to grab the property. He had created ugly scenes in the past also but on Wednesday afternoon, he lost his temper and attacked family members with chopper killing mother Anisha Begum and sister Nahid. Father Mohammad Kadir also sustained serious injuries. The other members of the family saved their lives by shutting the door of the rooms.
Police were informed immediately and on the arrival of police force, Arif set the LPG cylinder on fire and pelted acid bottle and stones to prevent them from entering the house.
Fire brigade reached the spot.
After bringing flames under control, the police entered the house and arrested Arif. Other members of the family were taken out safely.
The elder brother said children had gone to school, otherwise Arif would have killed some more members of the family.
