As per the direction of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Additional Superintendent of Police, Cuttack, Krushna Prasad Samal on Tuesday visited Dhinkia village at the proposed Posco project site and started investigation into the alleged brutal police attack on Dhinkia villagers on June 28 and June 29 last year.

Notably, a police team headed by the then Paradip Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Bhavani Shankar Mishra and Jagatsinghpur district administration had brutally resorted to lathicharge and injured many villagers of Dhinkia and Nuagaon while they were opposing the whimsical demolition of their betel vines by district administration.

Sources said Samal met many injured persons, including Kalpataru Mantri who had sustained serious injury and recorded their statements. The senior cop is scheduled to record the statement of concerned officials in this regard.
