DAUSA: A 16-year-old girl in Rajasthan's Dausa district has alleged that three men abducted her in a car at night and gang-raped her near the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, police said. The survivor was pregnant at the time and, by her account, delivered during the assault.
Doctors at Dausa district hospital declared the newborn dead after the survivor reached the hospital with the infant, police said. The case was reported in the Kolwa police station area.
According to the survivor's statement to police, the accused took her away in a car at night and raped her in turn near the expressway. She has alleged that she then wrapped the newborn in clothes and made her way to seek help.
The accused allegedly left her at Collectorate Circle in Dausa, where a bystander helped her reach the hospital, police said. She has been admitted to Dausa district hospital for treatment.
Kolwa police station in-charge Manohar Lal reached the hospital after being informed of the incident. Additional Superintendent of Police Shankar Lal Meena and Kotwali police station in-charge Bhagwan Sahay Sharma also visited and took stock of the case, according to police.
Bandikui Deputy Superintendent of Police Laxmikant Sharma arrived later to examine the survivor's condition and her allegations, police said. Charges of abduction and gang rape have been registered against three accused, who are being identified.
Several police teams have been constituted to track down and arrest the accused, and raids are under way at possible hideouts, Additional SP Shankar Lal Meena said. A medical examination of the survivor was conducted as part of the investigation.
Unconfirmed claims that the survivor was already pregnant before the alleged abduction, and that a man had sexual relations with her earlier this year, have also surfaced. These claims, along with the allegations of abduction and gang rape, are yet to be established through the police investigation, and The Pioneer could not independently verify them.
The survivor's identity has not been disclosed, in keeping with legal provisions protecting the identity of minor sexual assault survivors.
