The new Gujarat BJP president may come from strong Kshtriya community as the names of three top State Kshtriya leaders are making the rounds as successor to the current State BJP president RC Faldu.
Two Ministers in Anandiben Patel Cabinet, Bhupendrasinh Chudasama and Pradipsinh Jadeja as well as former Minister in Narendra Modi Government in Gujarat, Indravijaysinh Jadeja are in the race for the coveted post.
If sources in the Gujarat BJP are to be believed, Pradipsinh, who is the youngest of the three Kshtriya leaders, may become the next Gujarat BJP chief. He is also very close to BJP’s national president Amit Shah.
Faldu, a Kadva Patidar leader was given a chance for two successive terms by the party high-command. Now, the party would like to put somebody from other community, preferably from powerful Kshtriya community for the presidential post. Pradipsinh is the Minister of State for parliamentary affairs in the Anandiben Government.
Senior Cabinet Minister Chudasama is also a strong contender. He worked in Government as well as party organisation in the past in various capacities. Many in the Gujarat BJP believe that IK Jadeja might have been natural choice as his performance as vice-president of the Gujarat BJP was excellent.
His experience in the party organisation, especially during the last lok Sabha elections in which BJP set a record by winning all the 26 seats, would be handy in upcoming Panchayat elections in 2015.
Meanwhile, in lines with the nationwide membership drive of the party, the Gujarat BJP is initiating high-tech membership drive from next Sunday, November 9.
