The much hyped multi-crore ponzi-fund probe was marked by two striking developments on Monday when Kolkata Police registered a parallel FIR in the Rose Valley chit fund case and Trinamool Congress spokesperson and MlA Mohua Moitra filed a police complaint against Union Minister Babul Supriyo for making disparaging remarks against her in a national channel. The developments come days after Mamata Banerjee warned the Centre of “similar retaliatory actions by her State administration” following Sudip Bandopadhyay’s arrest by the CBI in Rose Valley case.

According to Shikha Maity, a RV investor who had written to ED, SFIO and RBI months ago after losing Rs 46,000, “Suddenly on Monday my lawyer said that the lalbazar police headquarters had asked summoned him and asked him to get an FIR registered in the Rose Valley case though we had written our complaints many months ago.” While the Kolkata Police had filed cases under Sections 120B, 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code, legal experts said, “there there is no bar in filing such cases.”
