'Poor States gained from coal block auctioning'

PNS

The BJP on Sunday maintained that auctioning of the coal blocks has given “positive results” with Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh being the main beneficiaries that are rich in natural resources but backward in economic growth.

“The coal blocks that have been auctioned till now shall benefit Odisha by Rs607 crore, Madhya Pradesh by Rs39,900 crore, West Bengal by Rs13,210 crore, Maharashtra by Rs1,819 crore, Jharkhand by Rs14,498 crore and Chhattisgarh by Rs26,425 crore,” said BJP national secretary Sri Kant Sharma.

The BJP leader said the auctioning of the coal blocks shall benefit the country and the society in many ways. While on one hand the poor State Governments treasury will get massive amount and on the other hand they will get cheap electricity, he said.

“Till now the result of the coal block auctioning reaffirms the party’s stance that the former UPA Government allocated coal blocks arbitrarily to Congress Ministers and their associated industrialists which led to a loss of lakhs of crore rupees to Country’s coffer”, Sharma said.

He said by arbitrarily allocating the coal blocks the Congress led UPA Government from 2004 to 2011 not only did corruption of crores of Rupees but deprived the crores of people of West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh with the benefits of these valuable resources, the BJP leader said.
