Eye on State Govt to take call on DC

State’s Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Kumar has recommended the State Government to take action against Dumka SP Nirmal Mishra for committing serious lapses and giving free run to Maoists to ambush a polling party at Shikaripara on

April 24. Eight persons, including five policemen and three polling officials, were killed in the landmine blast triggered by the Maoists on their way back to Shikaripara after conducting polls at both number 100 and 101 of Asna village.

“I have recommended the suspension of the Dumka SP for the laxity committed by the local administration as a result of which the incident of Shikaripara took place,” said the DGP. “There are some serious allegations against him, especially ignoring the intelligence inputs, he added.

However, sources in the Chief Minister’s office said that they have received no file in this regard so far. According to the report submitted by the DGP, sensitization exercise of the area was not done properly before the polls in Dumka, and categorisation of the booths was found to be faulty.

“There were several booths in the Naxal affected areas which were supposed to be categorized as supersensitive booths. But they were categorised as general ones whereas booths in the town areas were categorized as sensitive ones,” the DGP said.
