To maintain a steady and hassle-free flow of pilgrims to holy Amarnath cave in south Kashmir mountains, the authorities have stressed that unregistered pilgrims would not been allowed to embark on the pilgrimage against the backdrop of recent tragedy in Uttarakhand.
Many pilgrims are arriving at base camps without permits much to their own inconvenience and that of the pilgrimage managers. The yatra began on June 28 for 55 days and more than 6 lakh yatris have registered to embark on the yatra.
Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) that regulates and manages the annual pilgrimage on Monday reiterated its appeal to intending pilgrims to ensure that they completed the necessary registration formalities and obtained a valid Yatra Permit before embarking on the pilgrimage. “No yatri without a valid Yatra Permit shall be allowed to cross beyond Nunwan and Baltal Base Camps under any circumstances”, a SASB spokesman said.
More than 45,000 pilgrims have so far completed the yatra for the last three days.
Navin K Choudhary, Chief Executive Officer, SASB, reiterated the importance of strictly enforcing the Board’s decision against any unregistered pilgrim being allowed to undertake the yatra and stated that this is all the more important keeping the recent Uttarakhand tragedy in view.
The SASB has fixed a ceiling of 7,500 yatris per day per route and, besides, the 1,000 plus pilgrims who travel by the helicopter services up to Panjtarni.
