People want a change in UP, says Akhilesh

On his 48th birthday, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav said that the people of Uttar Pradesh wanted a change and the 2022 Assembly polls would be a great opportunity for the voters to get rid of the failed Bharatiya Janata Party Government.

“People of UP want a change. People will vote for change. Since the day BJP formed the government in Uttar Pradesh, it forgot its Sankalp Patra and threw it in the garbage bin. The BJP does not want to engage in a debate on real matters like unemployment and inflation. The SP will come up with an alliance with small political parties in the 2022 polls,” Akhilesh told reporters at the SP State headquarters in Lucknow on Thursday.

Talking about the recently concluded panchayat polls in UP, Akhilesh said that the BJP tried to influence results, yet they faced defeat.

“Just to gain dominance, they have given free hand to the district magistrates and district police chiefs to tilt elections (results) in their favour. With money and administrative power, the BJP is manipulating elections of the district panchayat chairpersons’ polls," the SP chief said.
