People of Bengal will reject BJP, says Didi

Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday dismissed BJP’s plans of gaining power in Bengal as a “pipe dream that will never be fulfilled.”

Speaking to an audience, the Chief Minister said “you (BJP) are planning to come to power in Bengal. But that plan will remain a pipe dream as you will never come to power in this State. The people will reject you like they will do in the rest of the county.”

She said “those who are dreaming of coming to power in power in 2021 will, in fact, go out of power from Delhi and we on the other hand will remain to serve the people because they have seen your real face and your performance.”

Attacking the saffron party for destabilising India from every angle Banerjee said, “there is no security at any level: be it physical security, be it job security or be it economic security. Everything is deteriorating in India and those who are responsible for it are dreaming to come to power in Bengal.” It is a sin to think that Maa Maati Manush Government will go out of power, she said adding “such people will be wiped away.”

Reacting to her statements State BJP president Dilip Ghosh said the Trinamool Congress leaders should start preparing for their exit “not only from power but from the State” as “we will drive them out of Bengal.” The TMC leaders who had “looted the common man and have harassing thousands of BJP workers with false cases will be thrown out of this State,” he said adding “those leaders should start buying lands in other States.”

The Chief Minister subsequently declared sops for the workers who were escorted by the Bengal Government back from the Kashmir Valley. “We are announcing an assistance of Rs 50,000 for these workers — who had to come back from Kashmir losing their jobs — so that they can start things afresh in Bengal,” Banerjee said.

Incidentally, the Chief Minister also announced a bonanza for the college teachers announcing a 3 percent increment for them from 2016.

“This scheme will benefit about 17,500 college teachers of the State” who will get a salary matching the UGC grade she said adding the salary of the part time and guest lecturers will also go up accordingly.

“The part-time and guest lecturers will get a raise of Rs 5,000 from 1st January next year,” she said adding the retirement benefit of such professors would also go up from the present Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
