NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Sunday rejected an intense clamour from his party cadre that he be projected as the chief ministerial candidate in the forthcoming Maharashtra Assembly polls, saying that the nominee for the top post in the State would be elected democratically from the among MlAs  after the polls.

Speaking at a function organised at the Shanmukhananda hall in north-central Mumbai on the occasion of 15th foundation day of his party, Pawar made it clear to his party cadres that he was not in the Chief Ministerial race and that there was no need to debate on who should be the CM nominee before the Assembly polls.

“There is no need now to debate on who should be Chief Ministerial nominee. let us all go to people collectively. let us effectively put our point across to the people and earn their confidence. If the verdict goes in our favour after the Assembly polls, then let us democratically elect one for the CM’s post from among the elected MlAs,” Pawar said.
