In a development which raises doubts about the severity of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s medical condition, a Goa BJP leader on Sunday hinted, that the former Defence Minister may not be able to attend the Budget Session of the State legislative Assembly which gets underway on Monday.

Goa Speaker Pramod Sawant also said, that the business advisory committee of the State Assembly would meet on Monday morning, before the Budget session begins, in order to decide whether the session should be curtailed from 33 days (February 19 to March 22) to three days, considering the failing health of the Chief Minister.

A meeting of BJP MlAs is also scheduled for Monday morning, where a decision as to who will present the State Budget on February 22 in the Assembly, will be taken.

Earlier today, South Goa MP Narendra Savoikar in a statement released to the media conceded that Parrikar would continue to be treated in Mumbai's lilavati hospital, where has been hospitalised since February 15, reportedly for "mild pancreatitis".

"CM’s treatment is in the right direction and that he is responding to the same. However, he needs sufficient time to recover and be focused on the treatment. Expert doctors are taking good care of him. We all pray for his speedy recovery," Savoikar said.

"On the advise of his doctors, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will be continuing with the treatment for pancreas in Mumbai," he added.

Parrikar was rushed to the lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on February 15, after he complained of food poisoning.

But conflicting reports about the Chief Minister's medical condition over the last few days.
