Panel to probe corporate espionage sought in RS

PNS

The issue of leakage of documents from Petroleum and some other Ministries and corporate espionage figured in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday with some members demanded setting up of a parliamentary committee to probe the matter.

Raising it during the Zero Hour, Pramod Tiwari (Congress) expressed concern over leakage of documents and asked the Government to inform the house about the extent of espionage. Demanding a parliamentary probe, he charged that industrialists were drafting policies and the Government was approving them.

Claiming that sensitive documents were also stolen from the Defence Ministry, Tiwari said it compromised national security and sought an explanation from all the Ministers whose departments reported leakage. He also called for resignation by these Ministers till the probe is over.

BJP member Vijay Goel said espionage was going in various Ministries for the last 10 years due to mis-management and corruption by the erstwhile UPA regime. He lauded the Modi Government for taking steps to address this sensitive issue and crack down on such practices. He also said rule of law will prevail and no one will be spared be it an industrialist or officials.
