Hours after Indian Army chief Gen Bikram Singh paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of Kargil war to mark the ‘Vijay Diwas’ celebrations, Pakistani Army violated ceasefire agreement by resorting to ‘unprovoked’ firing along the line of Control in Mendhar sector of Poonch on Friday evening.

The Pakistani Army targeted several forward Indian posts in the thickly forested area between 4.50 and 5.30 pm.

According to official sources, the Pakistani Army used automatic small arm weapons to target the Indian posts.

According to ground reports, the alert Indian troops retaliated the firing with similar calibre of weapons and maintaining tight vigil to foil any infiltration bid.
