Fifth breach of truce in four days

An Indian Army soldier was injured on Wednesday after Pakistani Army violated ceasefire agreement, fifth time in the last four days, in the Bhimber Gali area along the line of Control in Poonch.

The truce violation was reported a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi told a gathering of soldiers in ladakh that Pakistan has lost the strength to fight a conventional war but continue to engage in the proxy war.

According to field reports,  the ‘unprovoked’ firing from the Pakistani side of the line of Control started around 10 am and continued intermittently for some time. The Pakistani Army used automatic weapons and small arms to target the forward Indian posts. Firing was also reported along the International Border in Arnia sub-sector of RS Pura late on  Tuesday night.

According to reports, Pakistani rangers targeted border outposts Chinaz and Pittal between 1.30 and 4.00 am with automatic weapons. The residents in the nearby villages also ran for shelter fearing intense exchange of fire.

Meanwhile, the entire security grid has been kept in a state of high alert following reports of hijacking of a private taxi by a group of four suspected militants from Ramban area along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. According to reports the private taxi was hired by two unidentified persons from near Pathankote and on reaching Jammu two Kashmiri-speaking youth joined them and later four of them drove up to Ramban.

According to the driver of the private taxi, the suspected militants ran away with his driving license and mobile phone in his private taxi after tying him to a roadside tree. The security forces have sounded high alert in the run-up to the Independence Day celebrations. Several check points have been set up along the National Highway and main roads to prevent any militant strike.
