In wake of upcoming Assembly polls in Gujarat to be held in the second half of current year, Hardik Patel-led pro-quota organisation Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) has decided to initiate door-to-door campaign across the State to unite Patidar over reservation issue.

‘The campaign would be initiated from January 27th from North Gujarat town Patan. PAAS workers will try to approach every individual in the Patidar community to generate support for the quota movement,’’ said a senior PAAS leader, adding that more emphasis would be given in the rural parts of Gujarat.

The PAAS workers would roam around all the villages of Gujarat in next six months and awareness would be created over plight of jobless Patidar youth as well as issues related to agriculture sector and farmers, he added.

Just a couple of days back, Hardik Patel openly blown bugle against the BJP ruled state government and indicated during a public rally in Himmatnagar that he might not directly involved in politics but support the political outfit which would back demands of Patidar community.

Over the past couple of years, PAAS is demanding reservation for Patidar community under OBC category in government jobs and educational institutions. In fact, the agitation has made 23-year-old Hardik, a mass leader overnight post mega rally at GMDC ground in Ahmedabad on August 25, 2015.

Meanwhile, BJP MP from Porbandar Vithal Radadia created controversy by saying that PAAS convener Hardik Patel, who belongs to Kadva Patidar sub-caste, had nothing to do with leuva Patidar (another sub-caste of Patels) community. Radadia is leuva Patidar.  Reacting on BJP MP’s statement, PAAS leader Hemang Patel said that Hardik was the leader who united Patels, now Radadia wanted to make a rift for political gain. He went on to say that, such attempts of any political party wouldn’t succeed to divide Patidar community.
