In another innovative step, Government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to use cold energy — it comes from the materials or environment that contains "cold" or low temperature — for agro based industries established in the State. Australian giant Woodside Energy limited has come forward to invest approximately Rs 8,000 crores for production of cold energy.

Woodside representatives met the CM and held a discussion on investment in cold energy sector. State’s Principle Secretary for I&I and Energy Departments, Ajay Jain, has explained in detail about the scope of cold energy and requirement of lNG Terminal establishment.

The Woodside Energy will establish lNG Terminal at Kakinada Port in East Godavari District. The Woodside Energy would regasify the lNG imported and supply for production of cold energy meant for agro based industries.

In his recent Abudhabi visit, Chief Minister held discussions with Mubadala Group to invest in Battery based Energy Storage System. Mubadala Group had agreed signed MOU with AP Govt. As Chief Minister has decided to encourage Electric Vehicle and Transportation System in Govt and in private, he is foreseeing requirement of energy storage in large size to supply cheaper power.

As part of encouraging green energy, apart from Solar and Wind Energy, now Chief Minister Naidu is looking at cold energy.
