Suzuki Motor to set up its plant in North Gujarat
Instantaneously after the successful visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Japan, one of the leading carmaker companies Suzuki Motor’s chairman Osamu Suzuki made it a point to visit Indian premier’s home-State on Friday and met Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel. Suzuki Motors is setting up a state-of-the-art car manufacturing plant at Hansalpur in North Gujarat. In the wake of Modi’s Japan visit, the Japanese car manufacturer announced that the Gujarat plant of Suzuki Motor will be operational by the end of year 2017.
During the meeting, the Gujarat CM invited Suzuki to attend seventh edition of Vibrant Gujarat Global Investment Summit (VGGIS) to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi in January 2015. The Suzuki chairman reciprocated the same and assured his attendance in the VGGIS with his company’s senior officials.
Giving a positive response to that Suzuki told Patel that a high-level delegation will participate in the Vibrant Gujarat event. The company has selected Gujarat for its new facility because it has good infrastructure of roads and has abundant power supply, said Osumu Suzuki in a statement. The company had announced to set up its facility around couple of years ago when Modi was Gujarat Chief Minister. The Japanese car maker is planning to invest around $ 499 million to manufacture different models of Maruti Suzuki cars.
