Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and journalist Nidhi Razdan have announced their engagement, sharing social media posts that hinted at a new chapter in their relationship.
Razdan took to X on Saturday and posted a photograph, tagging Abdullah with the caption, “It’s done bro”. The post, accompanied by a ring emoji, was followed by a message from Abdullah, who shared photographs of the two and wrote, “A new journey began yesterday”.
The posts indicate that the engagement ceremony took place on Friday, October 30. Neither Abdullah nor Razdan has shared further details about the ceremony or announced a wedding date.
The announcement has generated considerable interest on social media, bringing renewed attention to the association between the two. Razdan was among the guests at Abdullah’s swearing-in ceremony as Chief Minister in October 2024, and the two have also been seen together at public gatherings.
The engagement comes three months after the Supreme Court dissolved Abdullah’s marriage to his estranged wife, Payal Abdullah, by mutual consent. In its July 31 order, the court recorded that the couple had reached a settlement through mediation and agreed to end their marriage under Article 142 of the Constitution.
Omar and Payal Abdullah married on September 1, 1994, and have two sons. They had been living separately for several years before reaching an agreement to dissolve their marriage and settle pending disputes.
Razdan is a journalist who previously served as an executive editor at NDTV and is known for her coverage of politics, foreign affairs and Jammu and Kashmir.
