Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief spokesperson and MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the north municipal corporation’s standing committee has passed a resolution to give away land worth thousands of crores to private clinics and its own people at free of cost.
Bhardwaj said that the Corporation is trying to distribute all the assets to its own people for free anticipating defeat in upcoming municipal elections. “The corporation is selling every expensive land at cheap prices and preparations are underway to auction the hospitals. It also sold Novelty Cinema land worth 150 crore for 34 crores, Dangal Maidan will be sold for one-fourth the price,” he said. The AAP leader informed that the proposal stated that the corporation will provide vacant buildings and land through a license without charging any license fee.
“This will be the first such license in the world, under which land and buildings worth crores will be given to their loved ones without any fee,” he said.
Responding to Bhardwaj, Delhi BJP Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that the AAP leaders are in the habit of levelling baseless allegations.Delhi BJP Spokesperson has said that before leveling allegations Saurabh Bhardwaj should understand the working of MCDs.
“Several charitable organizations are working out at premises provided by the corporations and running charitable dispensaries, teaching schools for handicapped and orphans. Most cremation grounds in Delhi are owned by MCDs but being maintained and run by charitable NGOs. In fact MCDs even extend financial aid too to some NGOs. Bhardwaj should first learn the function of corporation before levelling any baseless allegation,” he said.
The proposal tabled in the standing committee meeting this week to handover few vacant health department premises to NGOs for running charitable health dispensaries is in line with decades old tradition, he added.
