No surprise, senior scientist quips

Though it was a disappointing Monday at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota due to the calling off of the GSlV-D5 mission, at the end of the day the space scientists found solace in their sense of humour.

It turned out to be that Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission was the chief guest of the day to witness India scaling new heights in space science. K Narayanasamy, the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office who was a regular visitor to the SDSC since K Dhakrishnan took over as chairman, ISRO, was conspicuous by his absence on this crucial Monday.

“There is nothing surprising in the second stage of the launch vehicle getting leaked. The man responsible for the leaking of Indian economy itself happens to be the chief guest. What else we can expect,” asked a senior space scientist coming out of the Master Control Room.
