No parallel proceedings: SC to AAP

PNS

The Supreme Court on Monday told the AAP dispensation that it was inclined to entertain the appeal against the Delhi High Court decision ruling the Centre to have administrative hold over Delhi and will not allow "parallel proceedings" by entertaining the suit on the same issue already filed by the Delhi Government.

Wondering why the Delhi Government took so long to file its appeal against the HC verdict delivered on August 4 setting aside all administrative decisions taken unilaterally by Arvind Kejriwal Government, the apex bench of Justices AK Sikri and NV Ramana gave time till Friday for filing the same on the request made by the Delhi government counsel.

The bench said, "You (Delhi government) file the special leave petition (challenging the HC judgment) and withdraw the civil suit."
