The Congress Government in Karnataka has expressed disappointment over the Railway Budget presented by Union Minister Suresh Prabhu on Thursday. Expressing disappointment, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said reduction in train fare was expected following the reduction in oil prices, but the Railway Minister disappointed all by not announcing new trains in his Budget.

He said, “it is the most disappointing Budget. There were no new projects for Karnatka and the Budget did not concede 14 demands that were sent by my Government.”

Meanwhile, The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India has appreciated the Budget and said it was a transformational approach towards improving the Railways. In a statement ASSOCHAM president Rana Kapoor said, “The Railway Budget is a determined effort to make the Railway customer focused assuring both the passengers and industrial consumers of much better services with the help of technology.”
