leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley on Monday said that the Centre’s ‘Food Security Bill’ has no guarantee for food security for the poor.
“If there is any guarantee, it is only in the Food Security law formed by the Chhattisgarh Government,” he said while addressing a massive gathering at Janjgir-Champa during Chief Minister Raman Singh’s Vikas Yatra in the district on Monday.
He said that on account of the dishonesty of the Centre on appointment of the coal blocks, the country has to import one lakh 20,000 crore worth of coal from foreign countries.
“The country has sufficient coal reserves. If coal is not imported now, the factories will close down and the country’s power supply will be paralysed,” Jaitley said. “We import from oil to coal. The rupee has weakened against the dollar. At the time of independence, the price of rupee and dollar was same,” he said.
