Hours after a large section of the electronic media went to town saying that the security cover of Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan had been downgraded, the Mumbai police on Friday afternoon clarified that there was no change in the personal security provided to various film personalities, including the two actors.
Reacting to news reports that the security cover given to Shah Rukh and Aamir had been downgraded, a Mumbai police spokesperson said: “No specific actor’s security is downgraded or increased”. He, however, confirmed that a routine exercise of annual security audit on ‘threat perceptions’ had been carried out on various personalities.
Shah Rukh and Aamir have been among around 40 Bollywood personalities accorded security of different levels as per the ‘threat perception’ from the underworld mafia, certain groups and even former domestic servants.
The reports had, among other things, said that while the security covers of Shah rukh and Aamir had been downgraded, while security provided to Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Raj Kumar Hirani, Farah Khan, Karim Morani and few others have been withdrawn completely.
