Nitish: Signs not good for achche din after 30 days

A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi blogged that he did not have luxury of even the hundred days honeymoon period to judge his Government, his bete noire and former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday, though, admitted that 30 days were not enough, but whatever works have been done in this period were not indicative of the coming of achche din (good days). Meanwhile, the BJP attacked the Manjhi Government for ever increasing incident of loot and murder.

“Yes, 30 days are not enough time to judge a Government or make assessment of it but whatever work has been done in these 30 days do not indicate the coming of achche din,” said Nitish on the first day of the month-long Monsoon Session of the State legislature.

While addressing mediapersons Nitish, who earlier had parted ways with the BJP on June 16 last year when Modi was decided to be party’s next PM candidate, further said that people have lot of expectations from this Government and they must fulfil the promises made at the time of elections.

“logon ki apekshayaen bahut hai sarkar se ... aur jo waide chunav ke samay kiye gaye hain unko pura karna chahiye,” Nitish said while coming out from State legislature premises.

Earlier, Modi had blogged that “every new Government has something that friends in media like to call a honeymoon period ... previous Governments had the luxury of extending this honeymoon period upto a hundred days and even beyond. Not unexpectedly I don’t have any such luxury. Forget hundred days the allegations began in less than a hundred hours”.

Meanwhile, the State BJP leaders have attacked the Manjhi Government for failing in controlling ever increasing crime in State.

“Sarkar puri tarah se fail ho gayi hai har front per ... har roj murder, loot, rape aur kidnapping ki ghatnayen ho rahi hain ... sarkar ka koi control nahi rah gaya hain governance per ... hum sarkar ko Assembly ke andar sabhi muddon per gherne ka kaam karenge,” said BJP leader of the House Nand Kishore Yadav.

However, RJD leader and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi said her party would play both roles of an Opposition and the Government inside the House.

When asked what her party’s role would be after joining hands with the JD(U) recently, Rabri said, “We’d continue to raise people’s issue and concerns in the House and play the role of an Opposition … satta aur vipaksha dono role play karenge,” she said.

The month-long Monsoon Session of Bihar legislature began on Friday but adjourned till Monday after offering condolence to former BJP and JD(U) leader Tarakant Jha.

Earlier, the four rebel JD(U) MlAs Gyanendra Singh Gyanu, Ravindra Rai, Rahul Sharma and Neeraj Kumar ‘Babloo’ had requested the Assembly Speaker that they would be able to reply the notice given to them after the current Monsoon Session of the State Assembly would be over.
