The NIA on Friday registered a case to probe the conspiracy behind the unsuccessful terror attack on an Army installation in Kupwara where three jehadis were liquidated by the alert troops.
An NIA team also visited the spot and took over the evidence collected by the Army, besides the bodies of the three terrorists killed after a fierce encounter at north Kashmir's langate, sources said. The agency will also collect the DNA samples of the three terrorists.
The Army has handed over to the NIA three Global Positioning System (GPS) devices, mobile phones, map and matrix sheets (used for sending coded messages) recovered from the killed terrorists. The agency will send the gathered materials for technological evaluation.
Besides these, Army had also recovered three AK series rifles, three under barrel grenade launchers (UBGl), a number of magazines, significant rounds of bullets, four walkie-talkie sets, dry fruits and medicines, which bore Pakistani markings.
"The medicines which have been recovered from all three terrorists have Pakistani marking. This ascertains that all three terrorists were Pakistani terrorists," an Army official had said on Thursday after the attack was neutralised.
The latest Pak-sponsored unsuccessful attack came three weeks after terrorists had stormed an Army camp on September 18 in Uri, killing 19 soldiers and injuring several others.
