The NIA on Thursday questioned Punjab Police SP Salwinder Singh for the fourth day in a row. The agency sleuths also questioned his cook Madan Gopal and the caretaker of ‘Panj Peer Dargah’, claimed to have been visited by the SP before being abducted by the terrorists who attacked the Pathankot airbase.

The agency will also confront the SP with his cook and the caretaker of the shrine soon to ascertain the veracity of their statements. The agency is also expected to summon SP’s friend Rajesh Verma for questioning at its office here, sources said.

NIA officials questioned Singh, whose statements are variance with other occupants of his official vehicle that was hijacked by the terrorists to reach the Pathankot airbase.

Gopal, who was also abducted with him and a jeweller friend of the officer, and Somraj, caretaker of Panj Peer Dargah in Punjab, were also questioned, a Union Home Ministry spokesperson said.

The shrine is located a few kilometres from Bamiyal, the village from where the terrorists were suspected to have infiltrated into India before mounting the attack.

The probe so far by the agency has revealed striking similarity between the Pathankot IAF station attack and the ones on a police station and other targets at Dinanagar n Punjab last year. The agency has also found similarity between the Pathankot attack and Kathua and Samba strikes in Jammu & Kashmir.
