The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday detained Hurriyat Conference leader and National Front chairman Nayeem Ahmad Khan, for questioning in connection with hawala funding case. last week Khan was questioned when a team of the NIA sleuths arrived here to carry out investigations in a alleged hawala case. The investigations have been started after three separatist leaders including Khan and JKlF leader Farooq Ahmad Dar alias Bitta Karatay were purportedly exposed in a sting
operation where they conceded receiving funds from Pakistan to carry out subversive acts. Khan, however, rejected the sting operation and said it is being shown in bits and pieces. In the wake of row, the membership of Nayeem Khan’s National Front was suspended by Hurriyat conference led by Syed Ali Geelani. Geelani said that till the matter was not clarified, the Front would remain suspended from Hurriyat.
