Nearly 45 non-Governmental organisations, on the occasion of Global Tiger Day on Friday came together to urgently end tiger farms and tiger breeding for commercial purposes. They also expressed their commitment to achieve the goals of Zero Demand for tiger parts and products and Zero Poaching of tigers.

The Environment Minister Anil Madhav Dave on the other hand has exhorted tourists on the occasion from across the world to come to India to see the Tiger. later NTCA, WWF- India, TRAFFIC — India along with other organisations organised “Walk For the Tiger” with the children.

The experts pointed out tiger farming and trade in captive tiger body parts undermines tiger conservation efforts across Asia. Indeed trade in captive tiger parts and products stimulates demand for tiger products — be it from wild or captive tigers — and weakens the enforcement efforts by making it difficult to know whether seized tiger products come from wild or captive tigers.
