National Democratic Alliance (NDA) meeting that was held on Tuesday broadly focused on projecting the “good governance” and “strategy for developing nation” and the need for a “strong leadership” in the challenging time, leaving “seat-sharing “ and “state-specific alliances” to a later stage. According to leaders who attended the 38 alliance partners' meeting, the region-wise poll strategy and seat-sharing were left for the NDA meeting at a”later stage.”
“In between BJP president JP Nadda and his team would coordinate and implement suggestions of joint campaigning in the Lok Sabha seats”, sources said.
As of now state-specific strategies, alliances, or seat adjustments were not deliberated in the meeting which took an “over-arching view of the national political situation and strengths of the NDA vis-a-vis the emerging opposition”, they said.
“There was no discussion on state-specific politics during the NDA meeting in Delhi rather it focused on the overall political situation in the country,” said Jan Sena Party leader Pawan Kalyan who attended the meeting. The over-three-hour meeting emphasized the importance of “strong leadership in times of difficulty, drawing parallels to the experience after the terrorist attack on the Parliament.”
Other leaders said the meeting primarily focused on “how the NDA alliance plans to take India forward in the future, economic policies aimed at improving the standard of living and achieving development for the people.”
The focus of the meeting addressed by the Prime Minister remained on national politics and future vision and strategies.
According to BJP’s national spokesperson Syed Zafar Islam, ground-level strategies and more specifically seat-sharing process in the NDA will come up for discussion at a much later stage. Meanwhile, it is understood that the BJP has almost dropped Shiromani Akal Dal ( SAD) from its list as it finds Akali Dal ( Dhindhsa) as a “ better alternative” in NDA to SAD.
